Fellow Travelers: Dosti Music Project Has Music Video Shot At Ruby Falls

ellow Travelers: Dosti Music Project has a music video shot at Ruby Falls, bringing the music of India, Pakistan (and Appalachia) to Chattanooga.

The project is the first release from Found Sound Nation’s newly formed record label.

This recording is a result of Found Sound Nation’s Dosti Music Project, which twice brought together a group of 20 young musicians from Pakistan, India, and the U.S. for a month-long collaborative residency in 2015 and 2016 in partnership with the U.S Embassy in Pakistan, during which the artists worked to overcome nationalist disparities and find a common voice through song.

Combining Appalachian fiddle tunes with Karachi minimalist electronica and Sarangi accompanied classical Urdu poetics, the resulting album features both original compositions and reinvented traditional tunes, highlighting a surprisingly common musical heritage across what has too often been thought of as an insurmountable cultural divide, said officials.
